A composite or ceramic pool can be a fast route to a finished shell, but only when the groundwork is properly prepared. So compare not just size and colour in the offer, but also the wall composition, installation process and who is responsible for the construction work.
- What is the pool shell’s composition and warranty?
- Who handles the excavation, base slab, backfill and drainage?
- Is a crane needed, and what’s the access route?
- What happens with a high water table?
The colour stability of the surface can change over time with cheaper composites due to UV radiation and water chemistry, while quality ceramic coatings typically change very little. Also ask about repairability of the surface after mechanical damage – some systems allow easy local repair, others require replacing the whole panel. This information is often left out of catalogue sheets.
Before signing the contract, have the procedure for a leaking panel joint explained too – on some systems it’s a quick local fix, on others it means work on the whole structure. Reference projects several years old give a better picture of real durability than a freshly finished one.
