A hot tub seems like a simpler decision than a pool, but it’s still worth preparing a technical brief. Besides the price, pay attention to insulation, weight, access for delivery, service backup and annual running costs.
Base and placement
A hot tub needs a level, solid base. On a terrace you need to check the load-bearing capacity, access for placing it, and the ability to drain the water. In a garden you need to deal with electricity, privacy and service access.
Service and operation
Before signing the order, ask who handles warranty and post-warranty service, how quickly parts are available, and what the real consumption is with year-round use.
The annual running cost of a hot tub is mainly affected by the insulation of the shell and cover, how often it’s used, and the set water temperature – the difference between a well-insulated and a poorly insulated model can mean significantly higher electricity consumption in the winter months. Before buying, ask the seller to document the approximate annual consumption, not just the heating output on the spec sheet.
