Why hot tubs smell
Warm water, pipework, high bathing load and low sanitizer can create biofilm. The smell often returns quickly if only the surface water is treated.
What to clean
Rinse filters, wipe the shell, check the cover underside and clean the plumbing with a suitable pipe cleaner before refilling.
When disinfectant is not enough
If odour returns after normal dosing, drain, flush, refill and balance the water. Old water can be harder to stabilize than fresh water.
