European Hot Tub: What to Check Before Buying

With hot tubs, people often compare the number of jets, lighting and a promotional price. In the long run, though, what matters is the construction, insulation, cover quality, access to serviceable parts and parts availability. So compare European brands like Wellis, Aquavia Spa or USSPA based on operation, not just catalogue features.

What to get in writing

  • The model, country of manufacture and serial designation.
  • The warranty on the shell, technology, electronics and cover.
  • Requirements for the base, electrics, handling and service access.
  • Approximate consumption and the recommended filtration schedule.

Transport and installation of a European hot tub tends to be simpler thanks to a shorter delivery route and closer service backup than with models imported from other continents. Even so, plan for the access route to the installation site – the width of a gate, door or terrace decides whether a crane will be needed. Before ordering, get confirmation of the maximum dimensions and the weight of the hot tub filled with water, for the given load capacity of the terrace.

Before ordering, also ask for information on the warranty period for individual components separately, as they often differ – the cover, electronics and shell tend to have different warranty terms. A reference installation in a similar climate zone gives a better idea of real durability than general catalogue data.
