An enclosure extends the season, reduces water contamination and can help with safety. But before ordering, choosing a shape from a photo isn’t enough. Work out how the enclosure will move, where it will park, and how it connects to paving, steps or a terrace.
With manufacturers like ALBIXON, ask about the exact height, track width, locking, wind resistance, service and options for replacing parts in the future.
The infill material affects not only appearance but also light transmission and thermal behaviour under the enclosure – polycarbonate behaves differently than glass or tempered plastic. Also factor in regular cleaning of the rails and lubrication of the rollers, otherwise the mechanism will eventually jam. On motorised versions, also check for a manual backup in case of a power outage.
Budget for future downtime for drive maintenance too – on quality systems, lubrication and cable or chain inspection is typically needed every few years. Also ask whether the manufacturer offers an extension to the structure if the pool is enlarged or the terrace shape changes in the future.
