Pool enclosures: low, high or walk-on?

An enclosure affects the water’s cleanliness, temperature, safety and the garden’s appearance. The choice of type shouldn’t just be about price, but also about how you’ll move around the pool daily and how visible the cover should be.

Low enclosure

A low design is the least conspicuous and often more affordable. It suits situations where you mainly want to protect the water and extend the season.

Higher and walk-on solutions

A higher cover creates a more comfortable space, but affects the garden’s appearance more. A walk-on or special solution makes sense for architecturally more demanding projects.

What else to ask about

Besides the height and visibility of the cover, also address where the enclosure will slide to and whether you actually have that space in the garden. With a low cover, check how easy it is to get into the pool without having to fold the whole cover back; with a high enclosure, check ventilation and condensation removal so moisture doesn’t build up inside. Don’t forget a lock against unauthorised access by children, and simple operation for less handy users or older household members.
